Morcom Pernat is an Australian and New Zealand patent attorney practice based in Melbourne.  The firm is young but the staff are very experienced.  A strong commercial focus is brought to all work undertaken to ensure each client gains cost effective business advantage from proper management of their intellectual property assets.

 

Our offices are located in the technology precinct broadly surrounding Monash University which is at the demographic and light industrial centre of Melbourne.  That precinct has Australia’s highest concentration of technology-based enterprises and is home to many of Australia’s largest established businesses and emerging new businesses.  Australian branch offices of many overseas corporations are also located here.

 

Our two partners, Norman Morcom and Fred Pernat, have both worked extensively as patent and trade mark attorneys.  Together they bring over 50 years experience in the profession.  Corporate patent attorney practice is rare in Australia and our firm is unique in that its principals have more corporate IP experience than is available in any other patent attorney practice in Australia.    We attract clients who have a broad business vision encompassing other countries.  This in turn leads to our clients often needing international protection.

 

We carefully select overseas associates who can provide a high level of cost effective professional services to meet our clients’ needs.  We offer the same in return should an overseas firm require any assistance with Australian patent, trade mark or design matters.
